On today’s episode of The Flourishing Therapreneur, we are joined by Arianna Smith.
This episode is for you if you are:
- Noticing themes of burnout in your private practice, whether physically, mentally, or emotionally
- Fighting the outdated belief that rest is “weak” or “lazy” and struggling with feelings or guilt or scarcity around rest
- Considering taking a break from your private therapy practice but don’t know how long to take in order to find a true refresh and settle your nervous system
- Struggling to feel rested after taking a vacation or break from work, and feel more stressed going back to work than when you left
- And looking for systems to implement so you don’t have to be “on” at all during your sabbatical.
I had the most encouraging conversation with Arianna on this week’s episode of The Flourishing Therapreneur, and I am so happy to share these themes and messages with each of you! Arianna and I weave together themes of rest and transition, focusing on how each of us can benefit from taking a break and how we can make these rest times most effective. Arianna speaks in depth about her recent sabbatical, including why she took the amount of time that she did, how she prepared for her time away, and what she did to make her transition back to work as smooth as possible. Rest and recalibration are so important for therapists in private practice, and I think shedding more light on how we can all take more effective breaks from our work is essential. I hope you find this episode as encouraging as I did and that it helps you create space and intention for your own rest period or sabbatical!
